Don't Quit! You can do this!

In this post I want to get to the bottom of why people quit their fitness journeys and guide you on the right track, so that you don't make the same mistakes.

Now being a personal trainer for many years i have heard every excuse going, from being too busy at work to not wanting to get off their lazy a**!

First lets talk about being too busy at work to train and eat healthy. I have been there myself when you have a 12hour day ahead of you and you are wondering how you are going to do anything healthy tomorrow.

The first trick is to be organised. If you know tomorrow is going to be a hectic day the first thing you do is plan tomorrows meals. Now i've heard every argument about not having time to prep meals after work or just purely not being bothered to cook after a long day.

We have all been there, but majority of foods you can prep will take 20minutes max and can last up to 3 days. So if you are organised enough you can manage it so that you only food prep 2 days a week.

This isn't asking to much is it?

Half hour prep twice a week?

Im sure we waist more time than that daily scrolling through social media.

Now Training wise if you do feel like your just over worked or work is stressing you out too much, the gym should be your answer. There is plenty of science behind the feel good factor after a good gym session, This can mean any variety of training, weight, cardio, HIIT, Pilates or Swimming. You cant go wrong with any of these options and can also do some exercise at home that can be done in a flash.

Don't over do it! You can do this 3-5 times a week and if you feel you need a rest listen to your body, the last thing you need is an injury to set you back.

The Second of the 2 is being lazy. Being lazy is contagious! If you do it one day your body will want to do it the next day, snap out of it. You will feel so much better for getting out of bed and going to the gym. The endorphins released through exercise far outweighs the guilt of not being active.

There is a type of exercise for everyone, wether you aren't active enough at work and need to do more steps daily or if you are active already and need to challenge your body to get results.

Your body reacts well to being outside of its comfort zone. you're comfort zone can be anything from walking on the treadmill or going on your favourite machines in the gym. Challenge yourself, a challenge that i set people quiet often is simply burn 100 calories on a cardio piece of equipment and each time you train try and beat that time. This is a good challenge to mix up your cardio routine.

When it comes to weights you should concentrate on the bigger compound movements. You are better of spending your time perfecting squats, deadlifts, bench press and military press instead of hours waisted on isolated arm exercises.

I hope this post has been helpful for you. Any questions feel free to message me and I will do my best to set you on the right track.
