For any body thats ever walked into a gym before or is doing any form of exercise we have all had this thought before. We all want to know is it worth putting my body through this pain if it is getting me nowhere.
In this post I am going to explain what is worth the pain in the gym and what is wasting your time.
First and foremost is the mindset that LISS (low intensity steady state) cardio burns the most fat. Now I know there is place for this in an advanced training programme but if you are new to the gym and are just doing this hoping to burn fat, there is a quicker way. to start of simply add intensity to the same workout, so if you are training and just using the cross trainer or treadmill then do one minute at a high intensity resistance or speed and then one minute at a much slower rate. This alone will shock the body and burn more calories.
Then you have the importance of weight / resistance training . Activating more muscle groups burns more calories. If you are just using your gym membership for cardio to lose weight you can speed up the process simply by adding weights to your routine. The reason many people don't do this is because its different and takes you out of your comfort zone. Yes the first few sessions may be a bit of shock but believe me in a few weeks time you will be wondering how you lived without doing weights.
Training abs to get a flat stomach. This is a common mistake made in every gym day in day out. If you want to get a flat stomach you need to be doing more fat burning exercises, its that simple. Now this can be HIIT (High Intensity Interval training) , weight training or Class based fat burning. All of these need to be prioritised over doing hours and hours a week doing crunches.
If you can associate with any of these things make the change today and your body will thank you for it.
